A Week of Reunions

So how many times can you run into long lost contacts in one week?  For me, I’ve run into six this week.  Two at Lowe’s. One in the parking lot of Lowe’s. One while eating dinner. One while having an evening espresso. One at Fresh & Easy.  Coincidence or not, I tend to believe that things happen for a reason. It’s not always apparent what that reason may be, but I’m determined to let the “chips fall where they may”.

With the World Series of Poker (WSOP) starting in just three days, it was definitely a sign to run into a poker friend at Lowe’s.  For someone who typically played five days a week, he had recently purchased a house and was completely overhauling the property. He proclaimed that he would be taking the rest of the year off from poker to finish his house. I couldn’t believe my ears. An avid and successful player taking that much time off from the scene? Is it possible? Could he do it? We’ll find out as we all plan on heading down to the Rio on opening day.

What’s great about reconnecting with people is when I hear about everything they’ve done since the last time I had seen them. I ran into an old neighbor who had moved out of the development a while ago. The last time I had seen him he was building a grand backyard barbeque island with all of the works. Well…over a year has passed and he was simply glowing as he shared pictures of the finished project on his iPhone. Like a proud parent, his face beamed, “This is my baby!!!”  With his wife and son in tow, I said, “The grand opening party needs to be streamed live via web! Share it with the world!” She laughed and nodded in agreement.

As time passes so quickly, be sure to continue to connect with the people in your life. If by chance you lose touch, hope that something out there brings the connection back to you. This time, don't let it go!
