“To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.”

Why not go for it? That’s always been my attitude and my approach to almost everything that I do. Too many times people worry about what others may think or say about them, but really, when is there a time that no one says anything about you? So this quote by Elbert Hubbard is eye opening, and if you’ve never heard it before, just think about it.

“To avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.” Are we in this world to please everyone or to strive to challenge ourselves to higher levels? I believe with the latter, you most definitely can achieve the first. Yet, even with achievement and gains, it is impossible to not have your share of critics. That’s reality. That’s life. Whether it be praise or criticism, it’s better to endure either than to have never been on the radar at all.

Yet if we don’t ever “make any noise” we become someone who merely goes through the motions and lives in the backdrop of life. For some, they may be perfectly content to do so; but for me, I want to inspire by example. Work hard, dedication, and perseverance.

I have an extraordinary team behind me and I find that the best way to show my appreciation is to work hard and to learn from them in every capacity. Best of all, each and every one of them are great teachers. If our road to achieving is met with criticism, then I welcome the words of challenge. There’s no doubt in my mind that anyone who has seen me work, will question my heart. I’m in it to win it.
